Question:
Why do Cops get away with Police Brutality and Murder?

I don't get it. Every case involving a cop as the defendant, they always get let off. But if it were a regular civilian, I'm pretty sure they would get convicted. The Kelly Thomas trial, the cops got away with murder. The Rodney King trial, cops got away with beating him to a pulp. And there's so many more. Why are all of these cops getting away with brutality and murder???

Okay, we know right away that "Every case involving a cop as the defendant, they always get let off", they get found get very often. The cops who beat Rodnety King went to Federal Prison. the cop Ramos who beat up Kelly got fired. So, we know that your statement is an exageration of fact.

BUT.......If we make believe that what you say is true, there could be a good reason for it. Rodney King was a POS criminal who fled from the cops in a high speed chase. When they caught him, he didn't cooperate, but he put a fight and got a whuuppin.

Do you REALLY think that those of us who obey the law, live decent lives and pays taxes care if the cops tune up a scum bag who flees from them?

The Thomas was guy was homeless schizophrenic who was nothing but a drain on society. Do you want crazy, dirty, dangerous schozos hanging around you? the people in my neighborhood don't, and that I why we pay for cops and prosecutors.

In a way, you are right. the cops probably got carried away in both of those cases. But you don't see the cops walking into the Sunday school and beating the Sunday school teacher, do you? The cops have never beaten me, or any of my friends and neighbors. Maybe it is because decent people obey the law and don't back talk or fight with the cops if we get stopped.

Major problem is that they get to investigate themselves. They should have outside investigation, that doesn't have any friends or involvement into the investigation of an police officer. If a prosecutor is friends with police, in any small way, then do you think they would side with the victim or a cop. And how can we change a broken system if we are not either a cop or a lawyer and have no power to change the system. We can't vote for a person, to be a sheriff or something, unless he is a lawyer or cop.

I have never had a bad run in with law enforcement but I do know the facts.

In 1994 the US government passed a law authorizing the pentagon to donate surplus Cold War era military equipment to local police departments. So, weaponry designed for use on a foreign battlefield has been handed over to use on American citizens.

Did you know a black man is killed by the police every 28 hours?

A culture of impunity surrounding law enforcement allows most police officers to kill unarmed and innocent civilians while rarely suffering any serious consequences.

In the 1980's there was 3,000 SWAT raids a year. Today there is 50,000 SWAT raids a year.

Kelly Thomas did nothing to deserve to be murdered. And what those cops did is nothing short of it.

Losing their jobs was definitely not enough punishment for what they did. They deserve to be locked away forever.

This happens all of the time. Not to mention people's innocent family pets that they shoot on sight for no justifiable reason.

The main reason is because the jury has ALL the information, not just partial information that the media intentionally withholds to make the case look more controversial.

By the way, two of the four officers were found guilty in federal court for the beating of Rodney King. Officer Johannes Mehserle was found guilty in the death of Oscar Grant. Deputy Paul Schene was fired for his assault of a 16 year old girl. Your claim of "always" is not accurate. Unlike the juries, you obviously don't have all the information!

Clark K, Kelly Thomas was not dangerous and certainly wasn't harming anyone when he was murdered. I knew Kelly, I know his family. Shame on you for being an ignorant piece of **** who thinks it's okay to murder someone that you don't think matters. Nazi asshole.

Because America is now a glorified police state

The fact that two pigs (not cops) got away with beating an innocent homeless man suffering from schizophrenia to death is proof of that.

Now, I'm not saying that all cops are bad, but why do judges let off police who beat the innocent into a coma, and eventually die is reprehensible.

Because society is messed up. Instead of "with great power comes great responsibility" they see it as "with great power comes no responsibility". Police should be held more accountable for their actions, not less. It's sickening but it's how the world works. I think about half of police officers belong in prison. I was threatened by a police officer once, I don't think the officer even realized it was wrong.

So you are going to ignore all the cases where they do get convicted and just make up facts that serve your prejudgments?
