Turn Marines into police officers is actually a violation of federal law - The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878.

As to whether former marines make good police officers when they enter civilian life, somebody has probably done a study on that. My guess is they probably would. Both Marines and cops like order and discipline.

No because the U.S. Marines are not train to deal with justice like police officers are. It is not the job of a Marine to police people, they are train in combat. Also, a lot of Marines came straight of high school and are still recovering from their teenage years.

Depends on the individual just like anything else, I personally have not met worked with many that were any good. But there have been a few who surprise you. I believe they need time away from the military to grow up and enjoy life! They have been through allot at a young age they need real life experience to learn with out orders and to act human again. No offense meant towards any marines I have said nothing here that I haven't said to my friends who are and were marines.

Probably. I'm sure they have a good work ethic and discipline. I would think they would do well as police officers.
