Lets say like Bob robbed a doughnut shop and he is sentenced to a year in jail (this is made up I don't know the actually sentence for a robbery)
Then Officer Joe robs the same shop, would he get the same sentence?

Police in the UK normally investigate themselves and find themselves innocent anyway, so yes, they get a lesser sentence

Officer Joe would probably get a heavier sentence. Prosecutors and juries generally like to sentence police officers to as much jail time as possible to "look good" when they come up for reelection.
So lets say robbery was a 1-3 year sentence, Bob would probably get robbery plead down to theft with a fine or 6 months probation, and Officer Joe would get 3 years jail.

Theoretically, yes. However, in real life the cop is held to a higher standard.
So when Bob gets a year in jail, it is reduced to probation. But the cop gets a year in jail, and it is 8 months of actual jail time. In other words, the same sentence, but more difficult for the cop to get put on probation.

Why do have to slur police officers by saying "doughnut" shop? Have you ever worked all night (or worked at all) and needed a cup of coffee to keep you awake? Guess what? Doughnut shops are often the only places that sell coffee.
To answer your question Bob would probably get the longer sentence because he most likely would have a prior record while the officer would not.

The cop would probably get away w\ it to begin with.
I am so sick & tired of listening to this cops are held to a higher standard BS. They are not, never have been, nor ever will be.
95% of the time, their sentences are far less than what civilians receive.

As a matter of fact, cops are usually held to a higher standard, since we trust them to enforce the laws. So, when a police officer commits a serious crime, they usually try to throw the proverbial book at him/her.

They are supposed to but they protect themselves so evidence tends to disappear (the buddy system)
