So last night I was caught speeding at 2 o'clock in the morning and I'm only 16 years old and don't have my restrictions of yet and am not supposed to be driving from 12am-5am because its supposed to be illegal. The cop was nice and didn't give me a ticket for speeding but gave me one for breaking my restrictions. I'll still be able to drive, but I got a fine and 3 points of my license. My parents are making me go to court to try to reduce my points and fine and try to work out an agreement. Will the judge know I was speeding even though I didn't get a ticket for it? Or just that I broke restrictions? I don't want to tell my parents I was speeding because they will be even more mad and I'm afraid the judge will want to know and I don't want to lie to the judge if they ask and I don't know what to do? I was going 12 over the speed limit but instead they decided to let that pass and just give me a ticket for breaking my restrictions. Any advice?

He will know. He's going to ask you or the officer why he pulled you over. I'm surprised your parents didn't ask you.

"Any advice?"

Come clean to everybody about what happened. It's the only way you have a prayer of getting a judge to give you a break. Do you have a reason for why you were driving past midnight?

the judge will only know you were out driving after curfew-- unless the cop that pulled you over shows up for court. your points will still be removed. the fine may come down some.

Just tell them that you didn't get a ticket for speeding if that comes up
