Question:
I got a ticket for being on property closed to the public at a NY State Park. What are the consequences?

The ticket says, In Connection with your alleged commission of the offense of "Property Closed to Public" ( the part in quotations was written in) In violation of SEC 375.1 SUBD. h NYCRR TITLE 9.

I found it on the NYS Park Rules and Regs here:

We were not arrested we were just given tickets for climbing over a fence and being in an area of the park we were not supposed to be in. Is this a Violation? Misdemeanor? Or Felony?

I don't think it is a felony but i just thought I'd ask. I have court tomorrow.
Any advice?

From what I can tell, this ticket is indeed a misdemeanor citation. There will be a fine plus court costs, nothing major. Depending on how the court handles it, you may be able to plea down to a citation only offense (the equivalent of a traffic ticket).

The type of ticket you received is more like a citation and carries no jail time if handled accordingly. Just go to court pay the fine and keep it moving. This is a misdemeanor charge .
