I am an unemployed US citizen and I have an interest with joining US Customs/ Border Patrol. I have a few dilemmas in regards to their selection process though. My Credit is pretty bad (which I am working to get resolved), I have a DUI from 3 years ago, and I was terminated from a few of my jobs in the past 10 years. I am now turning my life around and I do believe that US Customs was always a career I wanted to get in to. My question is with my terminations, Misdemeanor and
my bad credit, will it still be possible for me to work for US Customs. If Anyone is a Customs agent or very familiar with the selection process or the background process, please help me out. Thank You.

If you let the people here on YA tell not to apply for any job and you don't, then you shouldn't get the job in the first place. Go for it, if asked provide an explanation for anything that needs clearing up. You sell your experience and tell you are human and you are trying to clear things up. Don't let no one here tell you your chances for getting gainful employment. Did it occur to you they may have an appeals process? Not to say you will need it, but isn't it nice to know the possibility exists. Go to their website learn as much as you can, call their local number and ask questions to whoever answers the phone, ask them for a referral to someone who can give you more information. You may fool around and get a hiring official who may be in a position to pick you up if you can sell what benefits you can bring to their agency.

Good Luck and Godspeed to ya. This could be your year.

Get a No Cost Background Check Scan at https://tinyurl.im/aH3qG

Its a sensible way to start. The site allows you to do a no cost scan simply to find out if any sort of data is in existence. A smaller analysis is done without cost. To get a detailed report its a modest payment.

You may not realize how many good reasons there are to try and find out more about the people around you. After all, whether you're talking about new friends, employees, doctors, caretakers for elderly family members, or even significant others, you, as a citizen, have a right to know whether the people you surround yourself with are who they say they are. This goes double in any situation that involves your children, which not only includes teachers and babysitters, but also scout masters, little league coaches and others. Bottom line, if you want to find out more about someone, you should perform a background check.

Background checks can be very minimal or extensive depending on several factors- your level of security clearance, your level of responsibility, how high of a threat level is there at that particular location, and possible other factors as well as family members who may have criminal records. With no previous record, your checks will probably be simple. However, on a humorous note, I had a check done on me once and was surprised to find out that there were others with my name who had records and there was an initial eyebrow raised in concern until they verified I was not those women.

I'm sorry to say, but I think you may have trouble gaining employment. Even though the Border Patrol is constantly looking for agents, I don't believe they let up on their standards too much. The only way that those blemishes would be overlooked is if they had happened 10 years or more ago, because that's the most common cut-off for background checks. But that doesn't mean it can't happen of course. Good luck man.

I doubt that your background would clear you to be employed as a CBPO. The background investigation is very extensive.

* The DUI within 3 years is a major issue.

* Bad credit is a very major issue.

* Terminated for a few jobs within the past is a major issue.

* A criminal conviction (Misdemeanor) is a very major issue.

The background goes back 10 years for the basics, but many questions are "have you ever" types. Any lies and you are disqualified.

I can not see you being employed as any Federal Sworn Officer.

A DUI will shut you out of all law enforcement jobs and fail you on even a 'confidential' class clearance.

Ya sorry to say, bad credit, DUIs and not being able to hold a job are not qualities the agency wants in an employee. Try walmart.
