I was in jail 03/14/2010 for suspect of an offense with a 25000 bail. next day on 3/15/2010 my mom paid the bail and i was free they gave me court paperwork to show up April 5 wich is tomorrow. My question is I got a certificate of Release by mail with a Release date of 3/23/2010 but yet i was out from jail on 3/15/2010.The detective investigating my case is the one who sent me that Certificate of Release. People tell me it looks like my charges got dropped already. I want to know if my charges are dropped. I pray God They are. Anyone knoes anything about what a Certificate of Release mean? Please help.

A certificate of release is issued for many reasons. The most common one is that you're suspected of a crime but it turns out you were the wrong guy. Another reason is that there isn't enough evidence to charge you with anything at the moment but the investigation is still ongoing. You're unlikely to get a straight answer out of the cops because they won't want to compromise an ongoing investigation.

Keep your court date, that could just mean that you got out on bail. Call the court, or the officer and ask. If you still have a court date and don't show up, a warrant will be issued, and they will want even more money and you will do jail time.
