You said you've been CHARGED, but that's different than being found GUILTY. If you weren't found guilty, how could that be held against you? If you were found guilty, I honestly don't know if that would hinder your aspirations for a career in law enforcement. Maybe you'd still have a chance, given that they were misdemeanors rather than felonies.

Probably not. The reason why is that in becoming a police officer, you may have to handle evidence, from peoples personal property to drugs to money. The police department would be worried if there was a million dollar seizure and would you skim a little off the top for yourself? You may not, but times are tough so jobs have their pick of the litter. Why hire you when they can hire someone else with a clean record?

get as good a lawyer as you can possibly afford. if you have no prior record, then there is an ok chance that you will get probation and then have the charges against you dismissed - but don't look for this rather fortunate outcome any time soon. it may take a year or two for you to get this and in that time, you will need to be very careful to not get in any legal trouble at all. also, whether you need it or not, get either therapy or some kind of group therapy (which is sometimes free for 12 step groups). if the court sees you being clean and taking the issue seriously, then they may be more likely to get a favorable outcome. talk to a lawyer, it's probably not the end of the world, but you will be stressed for a while...

you can be a cop with just a HS diploma as for the misdemeanors they are history after 6 months if your talking about years down the road for the BA degree, the misdemeanors will be history

You have little chance of becoming a police officer. One arrest as a juvenile and they might overlook it but two arrests for stealing is way too much. You would probably be rejected right away.

Can't say yes for sure.

If competition is stiff , they will take the person with the clean record first.
