Pertains specifically to the NYPD during undercover "Buy-and-Bust" Drug stings. Is there something that all undercover cops through all of the districts carry similiarly? such as Audio Bugs, Body wires, Hidden Cameras, Hidden microphones, guns, etc?
Does anybody know specifically what equipment they wear and the kinds?
I am researching this question for an essay on undercover police operations.

Please keep in mind that anyone who knows the answer won't answer you (undercover is undercover for a reason) and anyone who does answer is probably just guessing.

It would depend on the assignment. If the Officer is undercover and not expected to have a gun then he/she probably would not have one. Someone near by will have one and will be pulling security for them though. I seriously doubt a true undercover would carry a badge or department identification, that would be really bad if the bad guys saw it. I work a lot of plain clothes assignments. I'm not really undercover, but I do wear plain civilian clothes. I carry my badge, gun, spare magazine, handcuffs, small flashlight, handcuff keys, and other items with me but I keep them concealed. When I work these assignments I am usually doing surveillance or working some sort of anti-crime detail where I need to blend in.

It depends on the case and the situation. From my expereince they'll bug something in the room and not wire the actual undercover officer. If the suspect insists on checking for a wire it can compromise the intent of the bust. They also put up at least one hidden camera so that officers outside the room can see what is going on and better protect the undercover officer. A lot of times the undercover officer will give a physical signal to let the others know he needs assistance or that the arrest can be made. It may be as simple as crossing his legs or lacing his fingers behind his head.
