Innocent black people are killed and the news is just starting to get it out. I'm going to keep posting questions like these until I get a reasonable answer on why this happening, because innocent people are being killed because these dumb people are color blind and racist. We're all the same, except with different souls. If someone is being sus, question them. If they do something bad, arrest them. If they tell you they can't breathe, that's the sign their giving you saying you're murdering them. I bet you the only reason those police officers who killed George Floyd were arrested is because we are protesting and these people want it to stop. Well, the cops are the ones turning a peaceful protest into battles and harming these people. So, if you don't want this to happen, you (the cops/president) should be making changes or not turn these protest into riots in the first place! I may just be a kid, but I'm black and I'm proud to say I am. If I have to die to make a difference in this world, I will. Because my future children, or the children of our future should walk these streets free without any problems because of their color. We're beautiful and strong, and I'm not afraid to die if that means I'm black. Because being black represents who I am. I just may be 11 years old, but I'm not afraid to lose my life, if it means our future can live. Justice for George Floyd.

From a Law Enforcement Officers stand point.

What this man did to Mr. Floyd was not only

wrong. It was a criminal act. The charge should

be elevated to Murder in the 1st Degree. There

is no doubt that there was a demonstrated attempt

on the part of the officer to commit egregious bodily

harm. And Ergo it needs to be addressed.

However to generalize the issue is as bad as not

addressing it.

Justice has been done for George Floyd.  His killer and the other officers there have been charged and will be convicted.

What you really need to be concerned about is all the innocent black people who die at the hands of other black people.  I know the line you are being fed- "Whitey is keeping us down."  It's not true.  Institutional racism was destroyed in the 1960's.  If you really want to know what's going on, ask yourself what are black people doing to help themselves.

I don't know how to explain to black Americans, that unfortunately there are a lot of people, that don't care about black in America. The words .. black lives matter, and nothing is the same to them.

In many cases it's not even their fault. This is a 200 years old problem. Parents teach their children to hate black Americans (don't like to call them African), because the grandparents taught them and so on and so forth.

To solve the problem politicians need to take action. They know what to do, but they don't do anything. Obama talk about the problem, but he did little. Others only talk about this in election time, and later forget about it.

Most Democrats, promise on election day to work on those issues and later don't do anything. Many Republicans don't even care about the problem at all.

Protesting help but little. The only politician that has the ball to take the bull by the horns is Bernie Sanders, but most black voters don't like him. So we will continue having incidents like George Floyd till the kingdom come

Amen.

"I'm going to keep posting questions like these until I get a reasonable answer on why this happening."   Then you're going to be writing these questions until infinity.  There is no "reasonable answer."

If you think this is "just starting to get out" you've either been asleep for the last 150 years or you've never read a book. My own city burned 28 years ago over this very issue. One wonder where you've been. It's in the nature of every new generation to believe it invented the wheel, but you're a little late to the party on this one.

quite simply, it's because just beneath the shiny surface of what passes for a lot of "liberal" thought these days is the decidedly un-liberal attitude of "that's just the way THOSE people are..."

don't believe me? go to Boston, Chicago, NYC and any of those other liberal bastions and ask them about their high crime rates...you're likely to hear some version of "oh...that's just in CERTAIN areas..WE never go THERE..."

so it happens because a lot of people simply accept that it happens...until it intrudes upon THEIR lives...or until the pop-media that does their thinking for them tells them to be outraged about it..

if you care more about the color of those involved than the actions taking place... if you accept the "few bad apples don't represent the whole" for one group but not the other... if you feel more connection to a random person than you do your neighbor or classmates strictly because of common skin color.... then you need to take a step back and really think about what you mean by "justice"...

if all you want is for people to care about what you care about while shouting at them that their values don't matter..... you are going to grow up part of the problem..

I don't know if you're really an 11 year old Nisha but anyway...

"Because my future children, or the children of our future should walk these streets free without any problems because of their color. "

Yes. This. It's really not so much to ask is it?

I wish I had the answers to these difficult problems. I don't.

But I join you in hoping for a better future for all people, regardless of their skin colour.

Peace & Love!

It's been going on forever.  The big game changer is phone video evidence that everyone has access to.  The police can no longer simply lie there way out of it.

I don't understand how being "color-blind" and "racist" are not mutually exclusive.  It is now considered racist to NOT act towards a person based on the color of their skin?  Seems to be a complete repudiation of the message of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Those police officers were already being fired, and the other 3 were only arrested AFTER the prosecutors had compiled a case sufficient to try them.  Claiming the protests had brought this about is not a valid claim.

It isn't the cops or the president who turned the protests into riots.  Shifting blame will never result in a just society.
