what is the procedure for acquiring a gun licence in India?

Question

owing to the recent terrorist attacks, i am planning to get myself a small caliber pistol for my self defence. What is the procedure for acquiring a gun licence in order to have a pistol or a revolver in India? Do i have to get a medical clearance certificate? and do i have to register myself with the local police station?

please help me out as i am very concerned about the security of me and my family....

From what I've heard in recent news reports, there isn't a process for a citizen to legally posses a firearm, I hope the reports are wrong. I don't think an attack like this would have gone on nearly as long if the right citizens were armed. I just wonder how many, if any, other attacks the law preventing gun ownership has stopped from occurring?

First You go to Secretariat Parches a farm for Gun Licence.

In this You will have to convince police that either you have threat to life or to protect yourself from wild animals.

This farm send to your nearest Police station for your verification that you don't have any criminal charges.After that the farm send to

your district Superintendent of police for application. You will be interviewed by DM or SP and they will decide whether licence should be given to you.

after it District Calectar give you permissionon to bye a gun.

A licence is not required for possessing non lethal air pistols and there is no clearance required fron the police.

That would probably depend upon where you live. There are no gun licenses issued in the state that I live in and no minimum age to own a long gun. I had given 4 or 5 long guns to my oldest son by the time he was 14.

What state are you in? Because most states do not require any type of license or permit to buy or own. but if she ons the fireams you can still use them while she's around.
