Hello,

I just bought a GPS. Now, I'm being told that not all states will allow me to mount my GPS to the windshield. Could anyone provide me a link or a list of states that allow/don't allow the GPS to be mounted to the windshield?

Thank you.

I stick mine over my tachometer. Who needs a tachometer with an automatic transmission!

California Vehicle Code Section 26708(a) 12..reads.. A portable Global Positioning System (GPS), which may be mounted in a 7-inch square in the lower corner of the windshield farthest removed from the driver or in a 5-inch square in the lower corner of the windshield nearest to the driver, if the system is used only for door-to-door navigation while the motor vehicle is being operated and outside of an airbag deployment zone.

Minnesota Statutes 2005, Section 169.71 prohibits anything mounted on the windshield other than the rear view mirror.

So CA you can mount it in the bottom passenger corner of the windshield but in MN no way, no how.

that's in basic terms unlawful everywhere no rely if that's in a advertisement motor vehicle. maximum states have limit regulations, meaning some would be criminal, others isn't criminal. you may desire to income the regulations. you may injury out with mounting some thing on the windshield as long as that's low and would not hamper your inventive and prescient out.
