I never had the chance to test this out, but on TV and everything else they always seem to catch the guy

On foot, could be 50/50.
Remember , you'd be running from not just 1 cop, but several and most in better shape than you! They have radios, dogs and can call for back up. Then helicopters if needed!!
Always a chance to get away but if you run and get caught, there's another charge against you.
Instinct is to run, but not wise to do so. You'll more than likely get caught!!
AND if you run and get caught, cops don't like that much. You may ''accidentally'' fall a few times or bang your head in or on the car.... !!

Do be careful making a cop run will tick him off. I don't even like to run for an person not being smart but it's part of the job. Running will also add charges. And they will be more subject to restrain you in an painful way such as an knee in the back, or worse.
Just remember you can out run the Police Officer but not the Helicopter.

Ten years ago in New York it would have been hard. The cops were disciplined. These days they are pudgy and unmotivated. A grandmother could outrun most of them.
There are, to be fair, plenty of NY cops who are in decent shape, but actually, the obesity among the others has gotten quite observable.

Police vehicles are bogged down with so much excess weight from equipment and modifications, it's actually not that hard to out run them. A reasonably kept car, doesn't even need to be modified to go any faster, can out run the cops.
I own a '98 Olds Intrigue.....I out ran them.
My advice: Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.....and watch out for the PD in the Chargers.

They catch them about 90% of the time. Most of the other times they just let him go and get him later. Depends on why they are chasing you. But everyone who runs from the cops have one thing in common.
STUPID!
You may out run the officer's Ford but you can't out run their Motorola or Sikorsky.

Out here in CA its not that hard to lose the foot cops, but the chopper and good samaritans always catch you. Thne theres the dogs and your friends that will rat you out. So temporarily its not hard if your quick, but eventually you will be caught.

Omg try it, I bet you'll get soooooooooo far! They won't know what hit him right? Hahaha. Right? It'd be soooo hilarious.... omg the real page-turner in the local newspaper..... I can see the headlines now!
"Person caught after annoying a cop and running away, facing charges of resisting arrest, assulting of an officer, fleeting the scene of a crime," oh and the list goes on and on....
But hey, who am I to say no? Don't knock it before you try it right? hahah

You might be able to out run one police officer, but it's impossible to out run a police broadcast to the radio.

Well, not very easy. For one thing, most people cannot drive as well as most police officers (due to high speed training police officers receive), and another thing, you cant outrun that Motorola man.

you can out run the squad car but you can never out run the police radio because they can call for back up assistance to close in on you and corner you

and in real life too, you may be able to run on one but when back up is called, the runner usually gets caught.
2008-08-31 17:39:35 UTC
Not hard, well depending on what area your in. The young ones they usually send to the inner city.
The old fat ones are out in suburbia.
2008-08-31 17:39:00 UTC
well they just get more police officers its like impossible and if you run from a car they would probably just take your care
2008-08-31 17:38:44 UTC
I think it must be hard because they are trained to run fast I mean even the heavier cops run really fast!!!

kitkat
2008-08-31 17:39:44 UTC
hard because then they call their back ups and suddenly you have like 5 police cars chasing you. .... hmmmm....... this gives me an idea.
you should get those boat cars and drive to the ocean then gun it. i think you can get away like that.

The real ***** is if you don't succeed. Be certain they will not be happy and you will suffer for this unhappiness.

Individually, they might not be that fast, but a group of them will surround you...
2008-08-31 17:39:01 UTC
It is virtually impossible. After all, they have radios and backup.
2008-08-31 20:01:28 UTC
I don't care how fast you are, can you outrun a bullet?

2008-08-31 17:38:49 UTC

2008-08-31 17:39:14 UTC
