What is he thinking???
Eventually he'll get caught and will pay a high price for his crimes.
All stores now have a zero tolerance policy. That means when he gets caught he will be prosecuted and will go to jail.
And it may not be a camera or someone who works at the store that catches him. Stealing raises the prices of things for all of us. If I see someone stealing I report them because they are not just stealing from the store they are stealing from everyone.
Even if he doesn't get caught right away he's going to keep stealing more and more. He started out with 1 CD, now he's up to 5...eventually he will get caught and the sentence will be stiffer because of the total cost of the items.
It's an awfully high price to pay because there is a good chance his life will be destroyed. Every kid I worked with in Juvenile lockup thought he/she wouldn't get caught. The other thing is that they aren't always sending kids through the juvenile system anymore.
Has your friend thought about what it's like in prison? Even in the juvenile system kids get raped, beat up, and worse. Kids kill themselves in the juvenile system or are killed by others.
If they caught him on camera they will probably catch him in the stores. It doesn't even matter if he isn't stealing something then. The image may be enough to convict him. In any case, they will arrest him and he'll go to jail. His life will be ruined and for what....5 CD's.
How old is he? Does he know that he can be sent to prison until he's 18 (although many states are talking about making it 21). Is it worth it??
