My brother just physically assaulted me. Should I call the cops?

Everyone is telling me no. I was seriously bruised and beaten, he was the aggressor and there were witnesses. I did nothing in return, didn't even punch him. He's 13 years older than me, and I'm 20 years old. Should I call the cops? I feel like he completely took advantage of me and beat me up, and he's getting away with it. He's always had problems with the police and he thinks he's better than everyone. I feel as if this will be a lesson to him if I call the police. My eye also is a little bruised up as well. I have one scar on my forehead, which runs about 3-4 inches long, and is somewhat in the middle between minor and a serious cut. He's 33, not married, expecting a kid soon, hence why he shouldn't be acting so immature. What should I do? Should I call the cops to teach him a lesson, he says "he does not fear the police, nor any man". Clearly he's foolish, that's why I feel like getting the police involved and showing him a lesson about anger management.

First tell your parents since you should be able to confide in them, then they will likely take you down to the police station where you can file a report. The police will of course want to know why you didn't tell them when they were there, but don't worry; they will believe you even if they act like they don't. They just want to build a good case is all. Whether you forgive him or not is a moot issue since he is dangerous and needs help that only the prison system or a hospital for the criminally insane can give him. Just report the facts and let the professionals take it from there. You can keep in touch with him and maybe when he gets meds or shock treatment or something and gets better then they will let him out. By then you will be past 18 and can do what you want.

Hell yea! Call the cops! No way a 33yr old should be beating his 20yr old brother up. This sounds VERY IMMATURE and crazy!!! If you don't call the cops this time, get a baseball bat for next time and swing it at him wildly to keep him off of you. You can also get mase, and spray the s*** outta him in the face! Then run like hell! A stun gun would be good too, but i think illegal. Maybe start taking karate classes dude. You have to defend yourself before he will stop. And he DEFINITELY NEEDS HELP!!! Tell the cops he needs anger management classes or a restraining order.

First of all, i am SO srry! Nobody should desrve to be treated like that. Definitely call the cops for the sake of you and his child. Hopefully he will be taken in custody so no one will get hurt. Just put a damp cloth on your forehead and when u lay down put a pillow up so the blood doesnt rush to your head. I am so sorry and good luck! :)

Yes. People like this feed off the power they feel when they take advantage of others. It is not your responsibility to fight back, but you are fully in your rights to involve the police. If he is willing to hurt a family member like you, he may hurt his girlfriend or child in the future. Don't think of it as teaching a lesson, but helping prevent future violence.

Just my 2 cents.

call the cops. for a couple reasons.

1: he needs to learn a lesson

2: you need to protect your self and your family

3: he needs to grow up

ps. so sorry for what happened to you. Humans should not act like that to other humans.
