You will first have to put in your time as a patrol officer. Working undercover is a specialized position, one that is earned after completing a few years on the streets. Depending on where you live, some agencies require four year degrees or at least an associate's degree. If you don't have schooling, that would be your first step. The good news is police departments nationwide are seriosuly hurting for good officers, so finding openings will not be difficult at all. And you may even get a nice signing bonus when you join.

Second, you have to attend a police officer's academy program for new officers. Again, depending on where you live, this could take six months or more.

The bottom line is this: You will first have to do your time as a patrol officer, and then after a few years you can apply for a undercover position. Being a "street cop" first will only serve to help you should you decide to put in for an undercover slot. You gain a lot of street smarts as a patrol officer, and these are vital to a successful undercover officer/agent. Good luck!

First off, you will need to know how to read and write the English language. This will become especially handy when you are writing your police reports. Periods are not an option by the way, they are a must.

Military and/or a college education will significantly increase your success in obtaining the undercover police officer job. When the job opens, the department will look at the applications. Anything that relates to your specific job on your resume will be a plus.

I suggest you finish middle school, and do well in high school. From there, find a nice 4-year university to attend. Any majors in protection and security services are a plus.

Good luck.

Nerves of steel and no buddies.maximum undercover cops are uniformed patrolmen promoted to Detective, this would take years.they are faraway from living house plenty, they could be killed without delay if the suspect gets suspicious, and that they might't take of venture of having human beings know they're a cop,or their usefulness ends, alongside with their job.many times in basic terms great cities like DC or ny have the inhabitants length to justify undercover artwork.

just your post alone shows you do not have the slightest idea about what is goin on.you have to apply and go thru chaining.they will require a ceratin amount of experience before you can even apply for a job that requires undercover officers.it is just another job within the department.
