Question:
UK Question for MUSLIMS AND POLICE OFFICERS?
2009-12-27 04:55:31 UTC
If it is contrary for a Muslim woman to touch a man then how the hell is a muslim female officer of the law meant to apprehend a criminal- do they get by with labelling the criminal as being 'LESS THAN A MAN'?

It's obvious we need officers that are versed in muslim culture and practise because there are so many muslims in britain now, but do we need police officers that are going to bend our own culture and authority to their own ends?
I'd like answers that really go in depth here because I am niether a racist or a bigot and need to know why this type of thing happens- 'A Muslim Policewoman refuses to shake Sir Ian Blairs hand because it is against her religion'. Is this woman still in her job?

The woman did not like Sir Ian Blairs so had a good excuse without offend him. Classic British customs.

Your assertion is dubious to say the least. What about Muslim women who nurses and doctors? You assert you are not a racist or a bigot. Would you be raising this if a Christian, Hindu, Buddhist or Jewish woman were involved? All these religions have sects that preclude women having contact with any man other than family or husbands. I have my doubts about motives here. Perhaps you would care to dispel them?

You give no reference, only make an assertion about the woman's motive. If you knew anything about the internal politics of the Met you would realise that there are all sorts of reasons why serving officers would not feel happy about shaking the man's hand.

He has not been a cop since he resigned on 1st October, 2008.

Every Police Officer has the right to question a posting if there are extenuating circumstances. Whether or not they are granted their request is another matter and there are procedures in place if that officer is not happy the decision, to be able to appeal. The latest case could go either way. If there was sufficient reason to remove the officer from his posting, then so be it. If it was a question of race, then this is obviously wrong and he has every right to take legal action against the force he works for.

This is not something that I have ever been aware of, but it is certainly an interesting question.

I think that the simple answer is that if a woman will not touch a man because of her religion, then she cannot be employed in a job that would require such a thing to happen.

If a Muslim woman cannot touch a man, then how do the procreate?

I know that we have female muslim police officers, so I suspect that they simply do not take that part of their religion (if it exists) too seriously.

My only concern in all of this is that we are in the UK and so I would not be too surprised if in the not too distant future such matters do arise and we bend over to make it ok to have officers who cannot touch men so as not to offend their religion.

Countries that are trying to be non-discriminatory have become idiotic when it comes to dealing with people who insist on expressing their religions or sexual preferences. When it comes to having a government job, people should not be able to behave in any way that affects their ability to perform the duties for which they were hired. If they do, then they should lose that position for not being able to do the job. The government has become too shy about taking action in these cases because in some cases their have been judges that have ruled on the side of the person that has caused the problem. Idiot judges cause a lot of these things because of idiotic rulings.

According to my good friend, who is a devout Muslim, the employer's requirements come first. Hence, for instance, if to do your job properly means you have to eat during a fasting period you should do so lest you become unfit to work. He gave as an example a bus driver who wouldn't be expected to fast as to do so might render him unsafe to drive his passengers. You go into a job knowing what it entails and if your views are contrary you just don't take the job on.

It seems we are supposed to accommodate Muslims in their religious beliefs even if it means endangering non-Muslims. I am in America and was told that Muslims must pray at their regularly scheduled times even if it means putting a patient at risk. We are not allowed to suggest they need to take care of a patient even in an emergency during their prayer time. Now I find it hard to understand when our children can not pray at school but Muslims can.

All I want is equal treatment but that is not going to happen for Christians or Jewish folks whether in the UK or in America.

thats why muslims shouldnt be allowed in the police force, they cant keep their religion separate from their work. we all know how much they despise alcohol whats to stop them trying to stop law abiding british citizens enjoying themselves with a drink. they already tried to get christmas banned from the workplace. a muslim with a badge of law is like a fat kid with the keys to a sweet shop they wont know where to stop

voice of reason..You must get use to the fact its ok for christians to be persercuted but we dare not criticize the muslams...Imagine a brit or usa person as a recruit in a muslam country?? There is no way..In fort hood texas the superiors were aware of this nut case that killed 11 people but were afraid to insult the muslam religion..Take note in 1942 the usa interned 117,000 japanese nisei for the sake of security to our country..So unjust but it had to be to prevent us from terror attacks..This nonsense is getting out of hand..When in rome do as the romans do or pack your bags.
