It seems that you are guilty until proved innocent when it comes to the law?

Justice only comes to the rich while the poor sit in jail for meanless crimes that should not have jail time at all. Comments please!

In the USA, the defendant are innocent until proven guilty. In Mexico, you are guilty until proven innocent. There is a major distinction between the two. You are allowed to post bond to be free during your trial. In Mexico, you do not have this option.

In the USA you are guilty until proven innocent. That is why you sit in jail, do time, and then once proven guilty you can sometimes leave because of time served. Most crimes are appointed a court attorney for free, and again you are right, because the system doesn't pay these lawyers enough, the rich do get better service than the poor. The poor get one appointed attorney, while the rich can get a whole team on their case. Part of the sitting in jail part is the ability to post bond, and depending on the severity of the crime and recent law changes, homicide and abuse on a family member (felony) are not allowed any bond, no matter how much money you have, is how the bond is determined. Remember though, sometimes the rich are denied bond because of the fact that they have the ability to leave the country.

But if you appeared to be completely innocent~would be you arrested? Nothing is completely fool-proof ~ except for maybe DNA. DNA is not always available. If you were the victim of a crime, how would feel if no one believed you and said that the person must be innocent? Its a lose - lose situation sometimes like in some rape and child molestation cases. It is painful to see someone go free that you know deep down is guilty and it is equally painful to see someone go to jail that you know if innocent. It is human nature and the flawed justice system. Unfortunately, the rich can afford "more justice" than those who are not as well off. Many times the rich have connections with judges and such that effect the outcome of cases. Our laws were written to protect the person charged with a crime so that they will be innocent until proven guilty~today, the media and people want to play the jury (yet, no one actually wants to sit on a jury). Maybe you should get a law degree and represent those who really need you for little or no money through a legal aid office. Only people with a belief in justice can make changes in our system.

Generally aperson charged with anything today need the services of an Attorney. Knowing this and paying hugh fees to a lawyer are two different things. If you are not going to hire an attorney or can't afford to pay one gets you a Public Defender who is an uninterested party who could care less. If you disagree take a survey of how many individuals are in jail now who wouldn't be their if they had money for a lawyer.

It is very true. The people with money can better defend themselves in a court of law. The poor languish and are convicted (unjustly at times) because of a lack of money. Despite what ignorant people wrongly assume, innocent people are in our nations jails and prisons. The system is not necessarily broken, but is hobbling on a few flats and in need of dire repair.

Did you know, burglary is now no longer considered an important crime? They don't have enough forces to fight for justice, because they are too busy waiting to be mobilised "if" terrorism happens.



When crimes get to court, judges are too busy with their women, autobiographies and scandals to pay attention to the facts of the case. Juries are lettting their prejudices get the better of them more and more.



If you commit a crime, whcih I'm sure will be neccassary for all of us sooner or later, or impossible to avoid....just don't get caught. The justice system of this country certainly will not save you.

My best friend was the victim of a homicide almost 5 years ago that remains unsolved to this day. Has it skewed my views on crime and the justice system? Most definitely! I do believe that you are guilty until proven otherwise, and that most of the people arrested for various crimes did commit them. Those who are acquited just have better (read: unscrupulous) lawyers.

Since you hadn't noticed, let me be the first to tell you: life is unfair. The rich and powerful and famous get more breaks than you do. They always did. They always will. It does not matter which country or what type of government. Despite the best intentions of the law, this is the way of human nature.

You are so right roadporter, it is the best justice system in the world. I would hate to see the others because ours is so unfair. It is stacked against the poor and the black and that is one of the reasons that I do not support the death penalty.

yes your right there was a case about 5 years ago about a Lady in a coma in a nursing home (i don't remember the state) she became pregnant (someone there raped her)and the state was trying to force everyone (males)who worked there to take a DNA test I'm not saying it was right to rape that woman I'm saying were does it stop you are guilty until proven innocent if you let the government get away with that them you are stripped of everything you are no longer a citizen in free country

I know they say innocent till proven quilty, but you are right. The only thing that supports the other is that if a jury of your peers finds any possibility that it wasn't you then they must find you innocent because it has not been proven that you were quilty. Best wishes

Oh please. My son has a dead beat dad who has gotten into tons of trouble. I tried to get his visitations taken from him until he can clean up his act and the law says "innocent until guilty" and he hasn't been proven guilty yet, still sitting in jail awaiting trail. So, my case got **** on and my son has to still visit his dad IN JAIL! So, no, you are innocent until proven guilty.

Yes, this is true. the poor have less privilege than the rich do cause the rich just throw their money at their problem and it goes away. also, the police are corrupt as you know it.
