depend on the officer...most are often chambered. Some feel more secure w/trigger guard (esp on glock models). Why..feelin lucky!

OMG I sure wish people would refrain from posting unless they KNOW about the subject.
I don't profess to know all that much about police procedure, but I do know about guns. A large percentage of the cops in the U.S. carry GLOCK semiautomatic pistols on duty, and there IS no manual safety on a GLOCK pistol. The safeties in a GLOCK are simply internal mechanisms that make sure the gun cannot possibly fire unless the trigger is pulled.
Yes, some cops carry Berettas or other guns, and yes they do have external safeties. In such cases, I imagine that the cops carry a round chambered and the safety on. Even with such guns, there is most likely an internal block that makes sure the trigger has to be pulled before it will fire.
I'm confident that even those cops who carry GLOCKS carry them with a round in the chamber, because they could easily find themselves in a situation in which they did not have the available use of their off-hand to rack the slide and chamber a round when it became necessary to use the gun. You'd better have a round already chambered in that case.

Their is a round in the chamber and their is NO safety on most of their weapons. Lets see someone life is on the line maybe your, do you want an officer to have to take their weapon off safety?

you do not have to pull the trigger harder than usual. that's a bunch of bull. there is always one in the chamber and you pull the trigger just like you would the other 15 times you would shoot your gun.

Their guns have a semi lock feature so that there is a round in the gun but to fire it you have to pull the trigger harder than usual
