I want to go to school to become a Juvenile probation officer and am having a hard time finding information on what courses are needed. Ive called around to the colleges and have looked online and I'm not getting anywhere.
Can someone tell me what type of courses I need for this job career?
Thank you.

By Juvenile Probation Officer, you mean Youth Justice Officer? You'll need a degree in Youth + Community,Social Work etc for starters. They can be done at various universities in the UK.
Best bet would be give the Probation Service a ring and speak to them directly.I'm pretty sure that you would undertake the exact same training as an adult PO,with a few modules about children and the law thrown in for good measure.

The official duties of juvenile probation professionals vary from State to State and can even differ between jurisdictions with-in a single State. Nonetheless, a basic set of juvenile probation functions includes: intake screening of cases referred to juvenile and family courts, predisposition or presentence investigation of juveniles, and court-ordered supervision of juvenile offenders. Your degree in Psychology will be much more helpful in that position than a degree in Criminal Justice.

Your courses need to give you a well rounded, thorough understanding of juvenile law along with an extensive understanding of basic human nature, child psychology, counseling, deviant behavior and behavior modification.

You need courses that are related to law and maybe teaching if you want to teach the delinquents there.
