Besides the paperwork you do when you arrest someone, though feel free to explain that as well. What other kinds of paperwork is there? I know that police officers do a lot more paperwork than people realize and I'm just curious to know all the different types.

10 points to whoever provides the most detailed answer. :)

Every significant call we go on gets a detailed report.

Domestic fights, traffic accidents, shopliftings, alarm soundings, etc. all get a report.

Then there is evidence paperwork if we seize any evidence, juvenile paperwork if we deal with a juvenile, fingerprint cards to fill out if there's an arrest, tow paperwork if a car gets towed, traffic summonses, sworn affidavits for warrants, information forms to the prosecutor, etc.

Then there is the paperwork not related to calls. Memos to the boss about various events, requisitions for equipment, maintenance for the vehicles, sign out forms for tasers or radar equipment, logs of our daily activity not covered by the reports, etc.

There is a lot of paperwork in this job.

I fully agree that the Police should have less paperwork. The only thing I would query is this, are the government going to say that less Officers are needed as the paperwork is being done by civilians. Could be a ploy to get rid of Officers, or not replace those who leave in order to save money. I don't trust the Home Secretary one little bit.

wow, I would love the 10 points, but it tons of different paperwork almost to much to list... but I will try:

1- written reports or every call....

2- DAR- daily activity log

3- squad car check and log sheet

4- gas slips

5- mileage log sheets

6- Teletype info

7- computer log in and data report for QEH etc.

8- speeding tickets

9- intoxolser paperwork

10- arrest and follow up paperwork in triplicate.

11- tons more that I really would have a hard time explaining in typed form.... sorry

No, a crime is a crime, vanfalism is a crime, as you know.... it could be just a damge report if the police didn't feel like filling out a bunch of paperwork, and just gave the guy a citation, if the cop didn't give you a copy, then yes I suppose he just filled out a damage report.
