i got a ticket exactly three weeks ago in gwinnet, georgia. the officer only recorded my speed in the remarks box beside where i said my bf had just broken up with me. He put 85-90 mph. He did not check any of the boxes such as radar, lazar, patrol vehicle etc. this was my first violation and im only 16. im starting to think this was just a warning and he made it seem serious to scare me, i have a court date set 3 months from now. what does this mean? the top of the ticket reads; "uniform traffic citation, summons and accusation/ warning.

The PRE-PRINTED heading means they use the SAME FORM for citations and for warnings. If you have a court date, it is NOT a warning. 3 months is a VERY long time for a traffic court date.

It's a ticket and you have to go to court. You might be able to fight the ticket since the officer was too damn lazy to check the appropriate boxes. You may get off with just court fines on a technicality, or the you may have to pay a fine along with court costs and whatever else the judge decides. Just depends on the judge. But I would take the ticket with you on your court date and tell the judge that the officer didn't even completely fill out the citation. How do you know he wasnt just guessing what speed you were going? He couldnt even write down an exact speed, let alone what device he used to determine your speed. It says warning, because its just a general form they use for citations, summons and warnings. If he gave you a court date, its a REAL ticket
